2nd Regional Conference Sustainable Fisheries in the South-Western Indian Ocean: the importance of the Education, Management and Governance

Dear colleagues,

The FisherMan project is working on the organisation of the 2nd Regional Conference Sustainable Fisheries in the South-Western Indian Ocean: the importance of the Education, Management and Governance that will take place in Quelimane (Mozambique) the 8th and 9th of September this year.

With a two days duration, the Regional Conference will bring together Regional and International Marine Resources professionals, fisheries authorities, academics, policy makers, activists, politicians and others involved and interested in Fishery sector in the region.

MEDITERRANEA Magazine publishes the selected papers presented during the 1st Regional Conference

The 1st edition of the FisherMan Regional Conference organised in Madagascar during September 2015 counted with many professionals from the fishery sector such are regional and international experts, authorities, professionals, academics, policy makers and other key parties.

The selected contributions have been published on the special edition of the magazine MEDITERRANEA, a Scientific Journal run by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Environmental Studies "Ramon Margalef of the University of Alicante.

The FisherMan Project on MAR Magazine!

The University of Alicante has published an article about the FisherMan project in the MAR Magazine.

MAR Magazine is a monthly publication in PDF format issued by the Social Marine Institute of the Spanish Government; the Social Marine Institute is a public organisation that forms part of the Secretary of State for Social Security of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

The University of Alicante presented in two pages the main objectives, expected results and activities of the FisherMan project.

The 1st Regional Conference has been successfully completed in Mahajanga (Madagascar)

The 1st Regional Conference ‘Sustainable Fisheries in the South-Western Indian Ocean: the importance of the Education, Management and Governance’ took place in Mahajanga (Madascar) on the 10th and 11th of September and it helped to be a meeting point for academics, researchers, managers and civil society in general.

Marine Biology and License in Comoros University

The University of Comoros hosted on January 2015 the visit of Prof. Alfonso Ramos Espla from the Institute of Water and Environmental Sciences of the University of Alicante. 

With a duration of one week the Prof. Alfonso Ramos had the chance to support the implementation of marine biology and fishing license at this university. 

The study visit was supported by the several Ministries who where represented actively: 

- Ministry of National Education and Research 
- Ministry of Production: Environment Directorate
